Dear all,
Greetings,
Today (June 1st) is a great day as we set off to Kalgoorlie and the Canning Stock Route. It is always a pleasure to come back every year to this ultimate adventure. Despite the new permit system (see below right) the Canning will remain an exceptional place to visit. It is actually becoming very popular and we are looking very busy year too, we have told everyone to wait until September to make their booking, so if you are thinking about doing the trip, it will be a good time to do so.
The next thing on our agenda is the Great Victoria Desert. We are planning a small expedition for a couple of passengers and up to five cars following. The GVD is a fantastic trip, it features so many places, historical land marks, aboriginal art and sceneries, it would be too long to just list them here….! No seriously, great short (8 days) to the middle of nowhere, and back!
The trip is planned for early October and bookings will start in August, there will be further information in next newsletters. So keep reading!
Until next time,
Eric Chantelat, managing director.

Australia's Outback Tracks
Westprint Maps now has a large area of Central Australia covered in four maps that work with OziExplorer and TrackRanger mapping software. This gives the user a seamless map of Central Australia that continues to scroll across the computer screen as the vehicle moves. The four maps cover an area from Latitude 18 deg South to 33 deg South and Longitude 119 deg East to 142 deg East. These four maps cover an area from just south of Broome, across through Halls Creek to Normanton, south through Julia Creek to Broken Hill and westwards of Kalgoorlie.
Australia's Outback Tracks are ONLY available on CD. R.R.P $75.00
Many other maps produced on CD are paper maps scanned into digital format and published onto a CD-Rom. The Westprint map set is specifically designed for CD and does not have cover panels, legends or map borders in the middle of a scanned image. Australia's Outback Tracks has been designed to run with either OziExplorer or TrackRanger navigational mapping systems, rather than just a single platform. It can be used on a home-based PC or linked with a GPS and lap-top computer for use in a vehicle.

Location: Canning Stock Route.
This is Lake Aerodrome, one of the many attractions along the track. As the Stock Route was thought as retreat route for the army during the second world war, in case of Japanese invasion from the north, the general at the time discovered this very flat salt lake and considered having planes landing on it, hence the name “aerodrome”! Of course it turned out there was no need for it, and should a plane had to land on this surface it would have been an exploit. The lake seems flat and hard but contains many soft patches, just like any old salt lake in the country…

CSR "HAVE YOUR SAY"!
The permit system is now in place for the Canning Stock Route, you can book online at http://www.anfwdc.asn.au/permit/default.htm .
All information and packages are available from the site.
WDLAC have advised that there is to be no access to the Calvert Range. This remains the case until an audit or management plan for the CSR and surrounding area has been implemented. Those sites are in Martu land and the Martu can and do assert their legal rights to exclude people in order to protect the sites.
More information to come in future Exprim Newsletters.
The support and comments given on our website at has been very valuable. Because the final decision has not been made yet for the access to Calvert Range, we will need more of your support.
